Some weeks back I wrote to you about hamsters, and mice, and cheese.
(Yes, it was a bit strange to link rodents and dairy foods to business but I did it anyways!)
I spoke about the necessity of making a decision…
I said, if you are a hamster running in a wheel, make the decision to be a mouse in a maze instead because at least you are going toget somewhere, not spend your time mindlessly running to nowhere.
And then I said, if you are already a mouse in a maze, make the decision to be a Wise Mouse because, in a maze, there are dead-ends around some corners. And some pathways take you the really, really long way around. And sometimes you travel that same road over, and over, and over before you finally figure out which way is the “right” way to turn. It can be frustrating. It can be tiring. And sometimes, a poor mouse might drop dead of fatigue before they ever reach The Cheese.
And I don’t want that for you!
No, no, no!
I want you to reach Your Cheese with ease!
Look, if you’re anything like the dozens of entrepreneurs I just spoke with this last month alone (and I think you are!) then here’s where you’re likely finding yourself right now:
You are clear on your vision for your business.
You know what you want to create, and you’re
committed to that process.
But you’re getting bogged down. And it’s annoying you.
When you are running a business that is as complex as yours, with as many moving parts (people, programs, profit paths…) as you have, it’s so very easy to get bogged down! The ground can often feel like it is shifting beneath your feet and no matter how clear you are on where you want to go, it can feel like the quicksand of shifting priorities and managing the day-to-day decisions of running the business is going to suck you in forevermore.
And that is no way to reach Your Cheese with ease.
Knowing where to focus your energy on any given day in order to move you closer to your Big Vision is the difference between getting there…or not.
Now, I’ve employed at least a dozen techniques over the years to help me to balance the Big Vision with the Day-to-Day Operating Decisions, to try to keep my eagle-eye perspective on the big picture without losing track of the finer points that make my business run efficiently (and well!).
I’ve meditated. I’ve gotten up at 5 am to journal. I’ve made lists. Used post-it notes. Composed countless affirmations. Hell, I’ve even tracked the stars, my menstrual cycle, and the flippin’ moon to help me to determine where my focus needed to be to get me where I wanted to go faster, and more efficiently.
And not one of these techniques has served me nearly as well as the one I use now…because now, I just ask my business where it needs me to focus my energy. And that’s what I do.
Whoa…what the hell did I just say?!?! Did I just slide it in there, soft and gentle, like it was the most normal thing in the world to ASK MY BUSINESS where I should focus to move me towards my goals? Yep, I did. I just slipped it in to our conversation like it wasn’t at all a strange concept…because, well, it isn’t…not to me anyways, and not to my clients.
Here’s the deal: there is no better source of information about your business than your business itself. Period.
Now I could spend a whole bunch of time explaining to you about how you have put energy into your business, and your clients and customers have, too, and your support team has as well…and I could explain how that energy has all congealed to form what we can call “Your Business’ Energy”… and I could then go on about how it has its own “frequency” or “intelligence” (because all energies have frequency and intelligence)…and then I could take time to explain that all energies communicate with us and so, too, then, does the energy of Your Business…and I could explain that you just have to know how to “dial into it” and “translate” what it has to say…
OR I could just simply tell you that your business knows itself better than you ever could, or anyone else ever could, for that matter.
And so why wouldn’t you just ask it what it needs you to do?
That’s what I do. And that’s what my clients do, too.
Intrigued?
Yeah, I thought you might be.
Wanna give it a try?
Yeah, I thought you might.
So let’s make it simple…ease-ful, if you will, for you to find out exactly what your business wants you to focus on the most this next month to get you where you want to go, faster, and more effectively. Because when you’re clear on that, the ground won’t shift…the quicksand of shifting priorities won’t suck you in…and you’ll move faster, and be all the happier for it!
I look forward to helping you reach Your Cheese with ease,
